The Basket Lady
Marcia, The Basket Lady, has been a basketmaker for ten years. After she started teaching basketmaking, the baskets began to pile up so off to the craft shows she went. She is recognized for the sturdiness of her functional baskets as well as for her decorative accents, using solid oak for feet or materials such as antlers and seagrass. She lives on the Tug Hill Plateau overlooking the Black River valley to the west of the Adirondack Mountains and would not live anywhere else. Products by The Basket LadyMarcia's lightly stained baskets are sturdily built for practical use. She adds touches of overlay designs, grapevine, braided seagrass, antlers, oak handles, and some touch of color to her Waste Basket, Twill Market Basket, Adirondack Hunter's Pack Basket, Egg Basket, Antler Basket, decorative Pack Basket, and Storage Basket. Marcia's practical nature and her appreciation of the beauty which surrounds her every day is reflected in every weave of her work. Click Images to View Details
